To serve as the Gateway Area Council Scout Executive to serve Scouting and its leaders to the fullest, while allowing me to use my experience and keep learning.

Employment History

​

Assistant Scout Executive, Virginia Beach, VA                March 2020-Present

  • One of only 5 councils in NST-14 to achieve 3 consecutive years of membership growth

  • Friends of Scouting has grown from $380,000 in 2020 to $518,000 in 2025

  • Our team started 15 new units in a single year, second highest in NST-15

  • As business manager for summer camp, we achieved $235,716 net revenue over expenses

  • Started a grant-funded Scoutreach program with 14 units and 235 Scouts, supported by a committee and 4 hired program aides

 

Field Director, Fort Myers, FL                                 August 2016-March 2020

  • Led council to membership growth in all three years as Field Director, including years where we had major hurricanes and school access issues 

  • Designed and implemented a Cub Scout Recruiting Plan, which yielded a 5.9% Growth and growth for every District in the Council, which was featured by the National Office. 

  • Onboarded and mentored several new staff members to Journey to Excellence Gold, membership growth and FOS achievement

  • As staff advisor to the Commissioner Staff, all Districts and the Council achieved Gold while leading the area in Commissioner Contacts

  • Council Achieved Journey to Excellence Gold in 2016, 2017 and 2018

 

District Director, Fort Myers, FL                            August 2013-August 2016

  • Staff leader for Fall Recruiting, leading the Council to an overall membership growth

  • Oversaw a 2 District Service Area with 4 Counties and a population of 952,194 people

  • 2 of 3 years saw traditional membership growth

  • Oriented a new hire to where he finished 2015 with membership growth and JTE Silver

  • Built a new District from a consolidation of 4 Districts and recruited a new District Committee and Commissioner staff

  • Served as staff advisor for Jamboree, University of Scouting and Council Camporee

  • Journey to Excellence-Silver for 2 consecutive years and Centennial Quality District for 2 years

I am married to Christa, my wife of 24 years, a proud father to Jensen, my 17-year-old Eagle Scout son, and Emiri, my 13-year-old Star Scout daughter.  My interests include camping, mountain biking and serve on Scouting America’s Wheels and Boards Committee.
